I just watched the fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. It was held in the Thomas and Mack Center, a huge arena in Las Vegas, NV.
In the same building, I attended Floyd Wickman's SWEATHOG program. Some of you know Sweathogs. For those who don't, it's a hard, grueling program for training new agents.
Since I am very competitive by nature, I wanted to be the S.T.A.R. out of 205 agents. And it looked like I was going to do it. My main competitor, Hillary, went on a one week vacation to Hawaii. So, I thought, since she's in Maui and I'm here in Las Vegas, I should be the sure winner.
Boy, I was wrong! When Hillary left for vacation, she had two more listings than I did. While she was in Hawaii, BOTH of them sold! And I lost the first spot.
That taught me a valuable lesson. You can be relaxing on the beach in Hawaii and still do substantial business - as long as you have plenty of listings! Once I learned that lesson, I went on to win many office and MLS awards for MOST LISTINGS!
